The Hemene Approach

How does it work?

The approach works by addressing developmental gaps and creating tailored plans to build trust and connection. This relational connection and trust can support your dogs to manage their stress and ensure safety and support can be provided, rather than them developing the various coping strategies we often see.

There are many factors which contribute to the behaviours we see. These can be the individual dog's natural character, age and development stage. Early experiences starting with the interactions with the mother can have lasting effects on our dogs.

What is it?

The Hemene Approach is rooted in principles of Harmony, empathy and mindfulness. The word Hemene comes from the Native American Numipu (Nez Perce) tribe and means Wolf we are one.

The Hemene Approach seeks to create a comprehensive understanding of canine behaviour and foster positive relationships.

The wolves live in family groups and foster relationships of trust and connections, which are built and worked on everyday. They show us where our canine family members came from and how, with the right connections and support we are able to assist them to navigate our human world.

The future

Corinne is committed to her learning and development with the Hemene Approach and hopes to continue expanding her knowledge throughout 2025.

Please feel free to message or ask Corinne about this unique and revolutionary approach to our beloved canine companions.

How can it help with grooming?

With the use of the Hemene approach Corinne is able to co-regulate dogs that find any aspects of the grooming process stressful or overwhelming.

She is able to use calming signals learnt from the wolves to regulate your dog's nervous system and support them to feel safe and calm whilst building a relationship of mutual trust.

Due to the nature of this approach, each grooming session will be completely tailored to what your dog is able to cope with. This may mean that sessions may be shorter and we may not be able to complete the groom. Owners may also be required to be present so Corinne can share her knowledge and allow the owners to continue to process and support at home.
